GM thinking of producing 2-door Chevrolet Cruze

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

There were reports about the plan of General Motors that they will be rolling out a two-door version of the Chevrolet Cruze. No one from the company has denied this and no one has confirmed it either.

According to some media reports, the company is preparing their plant in Orion Township, a suburb in the area of Detroit, for the production of the Chevrolet Sonic and the Buick Verano later this year. The top executives of the company did not answer questions about the possible production of the 2-door Cruze.

The insiders clarified that the company is focusing on the production and launching of the Chevrolet Sonic. The company opted to produce the compact vehicle Sonic in Detroit instead of using their factory in South Korea. The setup in Detroit will have the new workers under a 2-tier earning structure.

GM has been building the 4-door Chevrolet Cruze exclusively at their Lordstown plant in Ohio but the successful campaign of the Cruze has the factory up against its production capacity even when the employees work over time.

The Chevrolet Cruze made a mark last May as it became the most sought after compact in the United States. This was the result of the industry survey but you need to factor out the shortage of the Japanese competition like the new Civic by Honda.

The Oriion plant is said to have been upgraded so it can help in the production of multiple models and the GM is still giving strong hints that they might indeed introduce a 2-door Cruze to further improve the image of the Chevrolet Cruze.

GMC Granite Concept, It Debuts At The Detroit Auto Show!

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

gmc-granite-conceptWe all know that when you are dealing with GMC, it is all about the trucks – seriously – all about trucks.  Well, I can tell you now that GMC is actually switching gears a little bit and they are moving themselves away from that particular line and moving onto things like SUVs – smaller ones.

Take the brand new GMC Granite Concept that was debuted at this years Detroit Auto Show and I can promise that it is going to be smaller and less rough-and-tumble than any other vehicle that GMC has ever come out with.

Another great thing about the brand new GMC Granite Concept is that if it does go through, the price is going to be lower, which in this day and age is always nice!

October Sales of Ford, Toyota, GM, and Honda Plummet

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Car manufacturers feel the pressure of the global credit crunch as they review their figures for October. The monthly sales are considered to be the lowest performance of the auto industry in almost 25 years.

The numbers are not for the weak hearts as Toyota sales have declined by as much as 23%. Ford experience a year to year drop of 45% as its October sales took a nose dive down by 32%. Honda and Daimler AG sales were also a lack luster with a 24% drop.

Other car manufacturers like Isuzu, Suzuki, and Porsche suffered a 45% decline.

The drop in sales of the automotive industry is on its 12-month straight, and is consistent with the projection of analysts who viewed businesses highly dependent on financing to suffer a great deal.
